More than 500 prospective students on Saturday sat for the entrance examination into technical colleges across Delta State, as education officials and parents called for sustained investment in technical and vocational education.
The examination, held at the Model Technical College, Asaba, was part of the admission process for students seeking to begin technical education in the state. The exercise was conducted simultaneously at other technical colleges across Delta.
The Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Technical Education, Dr Anthony Okwunze, who monitored the exercise in Asaba, said the examination was designed to assess the aptitude and interest of candidates before their admission into the technical colleges.
Okwunze said the candidates were writing English Language as their first paper before proceeding to the second paper, adding that the turnout indicated growing interest in practical education among parents.
