The Kano State Fire Service has rescued 16 people after a residential building collapsed in the Dan Dishe area of Kwanar Yashi, Fagge LGA of the state.
Many are still feared trapped beneath the rubble, according to sundry reports.
Saminu Abdullahi, spokesperson of the fire service, said in a statement that the building, measuring about 20 by 30 feet, collapsed early Saturday morning.
Abdullahi said the agency’s emergency response unit received a distress call at about 4:32am and deployed personnel from its headquarters to the scene.
He said the rescue team recovered 16 people from the rubble, including three children who were unconscious.
The children were identified as Affan Yusuf, five; Hassana Yusuf, seven; and Ummulkursum Yusuf, nine months.
