Super Eagles goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal has become one of the most sought-after free agents in African football after his contract with Shooting Stars expired, with clubs from Angola, Sierra Leone and across Nigeria all racing to secure his signature, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
According to Footy-Africa, Angolan champions Petro de Luanda and Sierra Leonean club FC Kallon have both identified Lawal as a priority target, while NPFL champions Rangers International and Plateau United are also monitoring his situation should he opt to remain in Nigeria.
Lawal’s availability follows a stellar campaign with Shooting Stars, where his performances between the posts guided the Ibadan-based club to a third-place finish in the Nigeria Premier Football League and secured their qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The club are understood to be keen on retaining him and have already held contract extension talks, but negotiations have stalled without agreement, leaving the goalkeeper
