Kano Catholic Diocese disowns ex-seminarian, warns against ‘Divine Solution Ministry’

The Catholic Diocese of Kano has disowned an ex-seminarian, Peter Umeanuka, who allegedly parades himself as an ordained Catholic deacon while operating a prayer ministry in the Sabon Gari area of Kano.

The Diocese, in an official disclaimer dated August 7, 2026, said Umeanuka operates Divine Solution Ministry at No. 80 Onitsha Road, Sabon Gari, Kano, allegedly under the guise of being an ordained deacon of the Catholic Church.

The disclaimer, signed by the Diocesan Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Abraham Ameh, stated that Umeanuka was formerly a major seminarian of the Diocese at Mother of Good Counsel Parish, Emir Road, Sabon Gari.

According to the Diocese, Umeanuka was asked to discontinue his formation after efforts to address what it described as a psychological health challenge proved unsuccessful.
