The police have arrested Mayowa Adejoorin, Osun commissioner for environment, in connection with gunshots that disrupted an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Ilesa on Saturday.
The incident reportedly left four persons injured, including a 14-year-old boy who was said to have been struck by a stray bullet while at his mother’s shop.
Abiodun Ojelabi, spokesperson of the Osun police command, said officers recovered exhibits, including expended cartridges and Amotekun caps, after the scene was cordoned off.
“Immediately the incident was reported, our personnel moved to the scene, cordoned off the area before some exhibits were recovered, which included expended cartridges and Amotekun personnel caps,” Ojelabi said.
“Also, Mr Adejoorin was arrested at the scene and has been taken to the command for questioning as part of the investigation process.”
The police said investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
