Abure Warns NDC: Don’t Repeat Labour Party’s Mistakes with Obi

Factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, has cautioned the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) against granting excessive influence to former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and his supporters within the party.

In a statement issued on June 8, 2026, Abure reacted to reports of internal disagreements in the NDC over the allocation of elective positions. 

He argued that the party’s leadership, led by Senator Seriake Dickson, was right to resist conceding all demands from Obi’s camp, citing the Labour Party’s experience during and after the 2023 general election.

Abure alleged that many politicians who secured tickets under the Labour Party later turned against its leadership, aligning with Obi and fueling disputes over control of the party. 

“We only looked at his body language and obliged most of his supporters with tickets. Most of the tickets were given for free because we believed we were investing in those persons,” he said.
