A viral moment from the Kano State Government’s mass wedding programme has sparked fresh debate over the priorities of government spending, after a groom publicly celebrated the addition of another wife during the state-sponsored ceremony.
The groom, who spoke during the event, cheerfully declared: “I just added another wife; I have three already.” The comment quickly gained attention online, adding a humorous but controversial dimension to a government programme that has already generated discussions about the role of the state in supporting marriages.
