Angola’s economy grew 8.74 percent year on year in the second quarter of 2026, its strongest expansion since the second quarter of 2022, as strong gains in the non-oil sector combined with a rebound in oil production lifted economic activity.

The growth accelerated from 5.32 percent recorded in the first quarter, according to Angola’s National Institute of Statistics.
The non-oil economy remained the main engine of growth, expanding 9.24 percent in the second quarter, compared with 6.22 percent in the previous quarter. Services and industrial activities recorded some of the strongest gains during the period.
The oil sector also returned to growth, expanding 5.64 percent after contracting in the first quarter. This was its first quarterly expansion since the fourth quarter of 2024.
