Osun Peace Commission begins hearing, receives ten memoranda

The Osun State Standing Commission of Inquiry on Disturbance of Public Peace has commenced its inaugural hearing, with 10 memoranda submitted to the commission.

The inaugural sitting was held at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Osun State Government Secretariat, Abere.

The hearing attracted petitioners, respondents, lawyers and other interested parties who appeared before the commission to present their positions on the various disputes.

The memoranda submitted to the commission covered several issues, including chieftaincy matters, land disputes and other conflicts considered capable of disturbing public peace in the state.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Commission, retired Justice Moshud Adekunle Adeigbe, assured all parties that the proceedings would be conducted fairly and impartially.

Adeigbe said the commission was committed to ensuring due process throughout the proceedings and urged petitioners and respondents to have confidence in the process.
