FG targets two million creative industry jobs by 2030

The Federal Government said on Friday that it was targeting the creation of two million jobs in the creative industry by 2030 as it moves to turn the country’s cultural assets and creative talent into commercially viable enterprises.

The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, disclosed this on Friday at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Kano Creative Summit, organised by the National Theatre as part of an effort to strengthen Nigeria’s creative economy and equip practitioners with the necessary skills for sustainable businesses.

She challenged creative practitioners in Northern Nigeria to take ownership of their works, strengthen their business structures and leverage intellectual property to generate sustainable incomes.

The two-day summit, which ended on Friday, was themed “Beyond Lagos: Unlocking Northern Nigeria’s Creative Economy.”
