The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Abdul’aziz Yari, has called for more support from the Northern region for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
Yari said the move was necessitated owing to Tinubu’s support for former President, Late Muhammadu Buhari, who stayed in office for two terms, from 2015 to 2023.
He stated this on Monday when he led a delegation to the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwanu Akiolu, in Lagos.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, noted that despite facing pressure within the party from some “power-mongering bloc” to run for the presidency in 2019, Tinubu held to his word by pushing for the late Katsina-born president.
This, he said, was enough reason to garner votes from the North for Tinubu’s re-election.
