Kogi Assembly Approves Bills for Free Maternal Care and Agricultural Education

The Kogi State House of Assembly has enacted two significant bills focused on enhancing agricultural education and guaranteeing free maternal and neonatal healthcare services throughout the state.

The legislations include the Kogi State College of Agriculture, Ochaja-Egume Establishment Bill, 2026, and the Kogi State Free Maternal and Neonatal Healthcare Services Bill, 2025.

After undergoing clause-by-clause review and acceptance by the Committee of the Whole, the bills proceeded to their third and final readings successfully.

Following the passage, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, remarked that the new College of Agriculture would equip young individuals and other residents of Kogi with the chance to gain agricultural knowledge and hands-on experience locally, without the need to seek education outside the state.
