
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged that his administration will transform the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) into a modern capital city that mirrors Nigeria’s growing population and national ambitions.
The President gave the assurance on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, during the commissioning of the full-scope development of Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way), which connects Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III in Dape District, Abuja.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure-led development. He said improved transport connectivity in the FCT would reduce logistics costs, attract investment, and create jobs.
He described infrastructure as a key indicator of national seriousness and state capacity.
“Infrastructure is the measure by which every civilised nation announces its seriousness.
“No capital can carry the weight of national ambition if its arteries are blocked by neglect, excuses and abandoned promises,” Tinubu said.
