The Federal Government has successfully recruited over 30,000 healthcare professionals into federal health facilities within the past two and a half years as part of its continuous efforts to enhance healthcare delivery and tackle the shortage of skilled personnel throughout the nation.
On Monday in Abuja, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, made this announcement during the 50th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the West African College of Physicians (WACP), where he represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The conference, titled “WACP at 50: Celebrating a Legacy and Envisioning the Future,” convened medical professionals, policymakers, and international stakeholders to discuss the college’s contributions to healthcare development and plan for the future of medical education and clinical delivery in West Africa.
Pate emphasized that the Federal Government is focusing on workforce development, specialist medical training, and enhancing working conditions to strengthen the health system.
