The National Secretary of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Sunday Ogini, has sharply criticized the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, accusing him of incompetence in handling legal matters.
Speaking on News Central Television, Ogini alleged that Amupitan’s interpretation of court rulings demonstrates a lack of capacity to manage Nigeria’s electoral process.
“Amupitan is not competent as a professor of law. His incompetence will cost us this democracy if we keep quiet,” Ogini stated.
He explained that the NNPP leadership crisis had already been settled by valid court judgments affirming the Bito Abu-led executive, where he serves as secretary.
According to Ogini, both the Federal Capital Territory High Court and the Court of Appeal in Owerri upheld their leadership.
Ogini questioned why INEC’s chairman failed to respect these rulings, saying:“Do you need to go to Harvard University to know that, as an unbiased umpire, you must obey court orders
