The Niger State Police Command, on Wednesday, refuted reports circulating on social media and other public platforms alleging that hoodlums attacked schools in Bosso, Kpakungu, Sabon-Wuse, and Lambata Areas of the State.
In a statement issued and signed by Wasiu Abiodun, Police Public Relations Officer, the Command categorically stated that following thorough verification and visits to all the schools mentioned in the reports, no such incident occurred in any of the schools or communities identified.
The Police Command therefore urged members of the public to disregard the false and misleading information, which was believed to have been fabricated by mischief-makers with the intent to create panic, fear, and unnecessary tension within the affected communities and the school environment.
Meanwhile, intelligence-led investigations have commenced to trace the source of the false report and ensure the identification and arrest of those responsible for spreading the misinformation.
