Youths in Ugbokolo community in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State have foiled an attempted kidnap of travellers along the Ugbokolo/Aokpe road.
The youths subsequently arrested three suspects in connection with the attempted abduction of the road users.
A resident of the community, who simply gave his name as Ada told journalists in a telephone interview that the vigilant youths also rescued five victims during the incident which happened early hours of Thursday.
Ada said, “Several persons were abducted by armed men on the road on Wednesday night, a development which prompted local youths to mobilise and launched a search operation in the area.
“The youths however tracked down the suspects, leading to the rescue of five victims and the arrest of three of the alleged kidnappers while one escaped.”
