The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Bauchi State, Adamu Usman Ahmed, has declared that he will stop Governor Bala Mohammed from handpicking his successor in the 2027 election.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, June 11, 2026, Ahmed expressed confidence that the opposition will triumph at the polls, citing the state’s political history and current dynamics.
“The people of Bauchi are always wise. From the history of the state, there has never been a governor that was able to install a successor,” Ahmed said.
“So the chances are clear, and the coast is clear for the opposition to win.”He noted that the 2027 governorship race will be more competitive than previous elections, with about seven or eight candidates from different political parties contesting.
“Usually the trend has been only two parties, a two-horse race… But this is the only election where you have at least seven different candidates from different parties.
