A United States lawmaker, Rep. Riley Moore, has praised Nigeria’s House of Representatives for passing the State Police Bill, describing it as a vital step toward tackling insecurity and protecting vulnerable communities.

In a post on his verified X account, Moore said granting states the authority to establish their own police forces would help curb the persecution of Christians and reduce instability across the country.

“I am thankful to see that Nigeria’s House of Representatives passed this important policy that I’ve been calling for since President Trump first asked me to investigate the genocide against Christians in Nigeria,” Moore wrote.

He revealed that he had discussed the idea directly with Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, during her visit to Washington, and raised it repeatedly with Nigerian delegations.

Moore also commended President Bola Tinubu for backing the legislation and encouraging its passage, noting that continued support from the presidency would be crucial for its implementation.
