Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo says he is feeling optimistic ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 as the Seleção prepare to begin their campaign in the United States.
The 41-year-old forward expressed confidence in Portugal’s chances as the squad departed Lisbon for its World Cup base camp in Florida.
“We’re approaching this competition with a lot of hope,” Ronaldo said.

“The preparation has been very good and tiring because we have worked hard. I am physically good and very positive. I believe things will go well and that we will put in a good performance.”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also praised the quality of the current Portuguese squad, describing it as one capable of bringing joy to fans back home.
“It’s a very good generation, one that will bring a lot of joy to the Portuguese people,”
