Osun ADC gov candidate decries rise in political violence

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Osun State, Najeem Salaam, has condemned the rising cases of political violence and unrest in the state ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

Salaam, while addressing supporters during the ongoing ADC campaign tour in Ayedire and Olaoluwa Local Government Areas, described reports of violent attacks in Osogbo and Ede as disturbing, unfortunate and unacceptable.

He warned that the escalation of political tension could erode the peace and stability for which the state is known, stressing that the security of lives and property must remain paramount above every political ambition.

“No political ambition is worth the blood of any citizen, and no electoral victory should come at the expense of human lives,” Salaam was quoted as saying in a statement made available to Sunday PUNCH.
