Be impartial during Osun poll, Methodist Church urges security agencies

The 14th Synod of the Methodist Diocese of Ijesa North in Osun State has urged security agencies that will be on duty during the August 15 governorship election in the state to maintain neutrality.

The diocese also expressed deep concern over the worsening state of insecurity in the country and called “on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to protect citizens and restore peace across the country.”

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the conclusion of the Synod of the church, with the theme “I Will Fight for You” (Exodus 14:14).

It was signed by the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Timothy Olatunji, the Synod Secretary, Rev. Samuel Oniyinde, and obtained in Osogbo on Sunday.

The Synod specifically condemned the recent abduction and killing of innocent citizens in Esinle Community, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable.
