
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has called for deeper collaboration between traditional institutions, security agencies and communities in advancing peace, unity and development.
He assured officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force that ongoing policing reforms will not undermine their careers, welfare or accrued benefits.
The IGP made the remarks on Monday during a working visit to Jigawa State, where he paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Mallam Umar Namadi, attended the 8th Executive Committee Meeting of the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council, NTRC, in Dutse, and addressed officers and men of the Jigawa State Police Command.
Speaking at the meeting of the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council, the Inspector-General commended the Council, led by Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto, for its continued role in promoting dialogue, peaceful coexistence and national cohesion.
He emphasized the critical role of traditional rulers in intelligence gathering, conflict resolution, community engagement and early warning mechanisms, noting that sustained collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies remains vital to addressing insecurity and promoting development across Northern Nigeria.
During his courtesy visit to Governor Umar Namadi, the Inspector-General reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to working closely with the Jigawa State Government and other critical stakeholders to strengthen security, public safety and community-based policing initiatives across the state.
Addressing officers and men of the Jigawa State Police Command, IGP Disu expressed appreciation for their dedication and contributions to maintaining peace and security within the state.
