
The Nigeria Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo, on Monday, unveiled Mustapha Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
Mustapha Kwankwaso, a former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Kano State, is the son of the national leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and vice-presidential candidate of the NDC in the 2027 election, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The announcement was made on Monday following the presentation of the younger Kwankwaso before the party’s caucus and key stakeholders during a consultative meeting held at Miller Road residence of the former governor in Kano.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the governorship candidate, Ibrahim Shuaibu, the party said the selection followed extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders.
Garba explained that the process began with the state chapter of the party nominating Mustapha and presenting his name to Gwarzo for consideration.
