Olatunji Disu, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), appealed to stakeholders and residents of Borno State to support the force by providing timely and useful information needed to ensure effective community policing in the region.
Disu, represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Intelligence Department, Zachariah Achinyan, made this call Monday during an operational and community engagement visit to Maiduguri, alongside the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Research and Planning, Zango Baba.
According to Achinyan, the community informant is critical to modern policing, adding that when members of the public confide in the police, they make the job of securing society more flexible.
He said, “We are here to activate the community informants. We will treat this information in such a way that no one can trace it to you, so that we can serve you effectively and protect our community.
