
A heated exchange has erupted on social media between two prominent Nigerian musicians, Dauda Kahutu Rarara and Davido, drawing widespread reactions from users, particularly on X.
The controversy began on Tuesday night when Rarara shared a video on his social media platforms, criticising Davido over his recent comments on insecurity in Nigeria.
The disagreement is linked to a musical performance by Davido during activities marking preparations for the FIFA World Cup, where he appeared wearing a shirt featuring the Nigerian flag and the names of schoolchildren reportedly abducted in Oyo State.
Last month, armed men claiming to be jihadists attacked a school in Oyo State and abducted several pupils and teachers, an incident that sparked national outrage and intensified criticism of the Nigerian government over security challenges.
Reacting to the situation, Davido posted on X on Wednesday morning: “Damn it, every Nigerian should not stay silent about the insecurity plaguing the nation, nor should they prevent others from voicing their concerns openly. Showing bias and prioritising personal or political interests, and putting personal desires above the community’s goals, is nothing to be proud of. Be a patriot for your country, stop prioritising politics over the truth, and fear God in everything you do.”
About two hours later, Davido made another post in Hausa, apparently directed at Rarara, stating: “Da ace kana da ilimi da na tsaya nayi magana dakai. Amma komai baka sani ba, sakarai kawai.”
