Makinde Approves Contributory Pension Scheme for Oyo Workers

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the immediate implementation of a Contributory Pension Scheme for workers in the state.

The announcement was made by Chairman of the Oyo State Pensions Board, Tunji Adekunle, in a statement issued on Thursday through the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade.  

 According to the circular issued by the board, the scheme applies to officers employed in the Oyo State Civil/Public Service from January 1, 2025, and will officially commence on July 1, 2026.

The contribution structure is set at 12% from the employer (Oyo State Government) and 8% from the employee. 

The government has pledged to ensure prompt payment of accrued benefits to affected employees upon commencement.  

  

 Adekunle directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to submit a comprehensive list of eligible employees recruited since January 1, 2025, using the provided Excel proforma.
