Deputy Senate President Barau calls for revocation of Kano-Gwarzo-Dayi road contract

 The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has reportedly called on the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, to revoke the contract for the Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi Road project, citing the contractor’s alleged poor performance and persistent delays in execution.

 

According to a leaked letter personally signed by Senator Barau and received at the Federal Ministry of Works on June 8, 2026, the lawmaker expressed serious concern over the pace of work by CGC Nigeria Limited, the company handling the multi-billion-naira project.

 

The Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi Road project involves the upgrade of the approximately 100-kilometre single carriageway into a dual carriageway to improve transportation and ease the movement of agricultural produce from rural communities to markets across neighbouring states.
