FG Launches Presidential Task Force on Ebola Preparedness

The Federal Government of Nigeria has inaugurated a Presidential Task Force on Ebola Virus Disease Preparedness to strengthen preventive measures and avoid a repeat of the 2014 crisis.

The task force was formally launched in Abuja by Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, who emphasized the importance of proactive action. 

“Right now, there’s no reported case, which is good news. That’s why all hands must be on deck to ensure our measures remain preventive, not curative,” he stated.

Gbajabiamila explained that the task force has set up specialized teams to oversee disease tracking, border management, and emergency coordination. 

Unlike previous efforts that focused mainly on airports, the new plan expands surveillance to land borders and informal travel routes, recognizing the high level of cross-migration in those areas.
