Nigeria’s Improved Foreign Reserve ‘Good News Critics Don’t Want to Hear’ — Onanuga


The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, has said opposition presidential candidates, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, are unwilling to acknowledge what he described as positive developments in Nigeria’s economy, particularly the country’s rising foreign reserves.

Onanuga disclosed that Nigeria’s foreign reserves climbed to $51.04 billion as of June 18, describing it as the highest level recorded in 17 years.

He added that the last comparable level was in January 2009, when the reserves stood at $50.5 billion.

In a post on X, obtained by Politics Nigeria Onanuga said, “Nigeria’s foreign reserves rose to $51.04 billion on June 18, the highest level in 17 years. In January 2009, the reserves stood at $50.5 billion.
