APC’s Ikeje Asogwa Wins Enugu North Senatorial By-Election in Landslide

Chief Ikeje Asogwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emerged victorious in the Enugu North Senatorial District by-election held on Saturday, June 20, 2026.  

  

Asogwa polled a total of 162,360 votes, decisively defeating his closest rival, Chief Nestor Ezeme of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 9,299 votes. 

  

Announcing the results on Sunday in Nsukka, the Returning Officer, Prof. Christian Ezeibe, declared Asogwa the winner, stating that he satisfied all legal requirements. 

  

Other candidates performed as follows: Ossai Elias Okwudiri (NDC) — 3,129 votes  

Chika Idoko Emmanuel (ADC) — 1,676 votes  

Kingsley Aneke (Boot Party) — 1,607 votes  

Ejike Simon Eze (LP) — 1,027 votes  

Charles Ugochukwu (PRP) — 667 votes

A total of 184,094 voters were accredited out of 727,340 registered voters in the district.
