Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has dismissed opposition criticism following his re-election, stressing that political victories are secured at polling units rather than on social media platforms.
In a video shared by Channels Television, Oyebanji likened his electoral success to a farmer reaping the rewards of diligent work, saying: “A farmer who has diligently tilled the ground does not need to fear the day of harvest.”
He accused some rivals of focusing on online campaigns instead of grassroots engagement, remarking: “Charlatans that have not done anything are busy on social media. They are not polling units on social media.”
Oyebanji argued that performance in office remains the ultimate determinant of electoral success. “If you have done well, people will vote for you. But if you don’t have anything to say other than granting interviews and whipping up sentiments, yesterday was the day of reckoning,” he said.
