South-East Leaders Pursuing Political Solution for Nnamdi Kanu’s Release – Umahi

Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has revealed that political and traditional leaders from Nigeria’s South-East region are actively exploring political avenues to secure the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.  

  

 Umahi made the disclosure while inspecting Section II of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project in Epe, Lagos State. 

He emphasised that South-East governors, supported by other leaders, are working to promote peace and stability in the region while addressing Kanu’s detention through political means.  

  

“The governors of the South-East are doing everything possible, and we are supporting them in ensuring a peaceful South-East while also exploring political ways of helping our brother, Nnamdi Kanu,” Umahi stated. 

  

The minister’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about finding a non-judicial resolution to Kanu’s prolonged detention, which has remained a sensitive issue in the South-East.
