Keir Starmer has announced his resignation as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Labour Party.
Making the announcement on Monday, Starmer stated that the core question his party has been asking is whether he is the best person to lead them into the next general election.
He noted that he has heard the party’s answer to that question and accepts it with good grace, adding that every decision he has taken during his time in office has been about putting the country he loves first.
Before announcing that he will resign as leader of the Labour Party, Starmer spoke about his journey at the helm of the organization, noting that he originally inherited a Labour Party that was politically, financially, and morally bankrupt. He recalled how people told him time and time again that the party was completely finished, but stated that he proved those people wrong.
