
Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded fresh operational successes in Sokoto and Katsina states, repelling a terrorist attack, rescuing abducted victims, neutralising suspected terrorists, and recovering weapons, motorcycles, and rustled livestock.
According to the military, the operations were carried out on June 21 and 22 as part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and banditry across the North-West region.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said troops foiled an attempt by armed terrorists to infiltrate Tureta town in Sokoto State after acting on credible intelligence.
“The vigilant troops engaged the criminals, forcing them to abandon their sinister mission and flee,” Danja said.
The military spokesperson disclosed that aerial surveillance assets subsequently tracked the fleeing terrorists to Sulubawa Gidan Kare village, where they were seen moving with abducted civilians and rustled
