The Parliamentary Advocacy Centre (PAC) has criticised the House of Representatives Minority Leader, Fred Agbedi, for urging President Bola Tinubu to suspend all 2027 election-related activities in order to focus on tackling Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and economic challenges.
Agbedi had last week called on the President to prioritise the welfare and security of Nigerians over what he described as premature political calculations ahead of the next general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its President, Itodo Vincent, the PAC described Agbedi’s remarks as politically motivated, unhelpful, and an attempt to politicise a sensitive national issue.
“It is unfortunate that Hon. Fred Agbedi chose to politicise an issue as sensitive as national security. Nigerians expect practical solutions and constructive engagement from political leaders, not statements designed to score partisan points,” the statement said.
