
Security operatives of the Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, in collaboration with the institution’s management, have arrested a 400-level student over alleged attempted forced cult recruitment, assault, and threats to life.
The suspect, Adejo Ojonimi, 25, a student of the Department of Economics with matriculation number 23EC1103, was apprehended on June 19, 2026, by the university’s Vigilante Service following a complaint lodged by a spill-over student of the Department of Food Science and Technology.
According to the complainant, Ojonimi, who resides in the NTA area behind the campus, allegedly approached him and pressured him to join the Black Axe Confraternity.
The student claimed that after he rejected the invitation, he was assaulted, sustained injuries, and was repeatedly threatened with dire consequences if he refused to submit to initiation.
