The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State for the 2027 elections, Oladipupo Adebutu, has stressed that tackling insecurity must come before any meaningful development can take place in Nigeria.
Speaking at a media parley in Abeokuta on Monday, Adebutu said prosperity cannot exist without the safety of lives and property, noting that security tops his agenda.
He commended journalists for their critical role in promoting accountability and democracy, even in what he described as “one of the most difficult periods” for the profession globally.
“The problem facing Nigeria today is insecurity. That is why security occupies the first position on our agenda. We cannot build a prosperous society without ensuring the safety of lives and property,” Adebutu stated.
Deputy governorship candidate Lateefah Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo urged journalists to remain fair and unbiased in their reporting as the 2027 elections approach, while Ogun Central senatorial candidate Iyabo Obasanjo emphasized the need for accountability,
