
Grammy-winning Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has become the African artiste with the highest number of entries on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 chart.
He surpassed fellow Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems.
Ogulu announced the milestone on his social media platforms on Tuesday, describing it as a significant achievement in his career.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Burna Boy and Tems were previously tied with eight entries each on the prestigious chart.
However, Burna Boy secured a ninth entry through his collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira on the official FIFA World Cup song, “Dai Dai.”
The song debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100, bringing Burna Boy’s total number of entries on the chart to nine, the highest by any African artiste.
