Jigawa approves N273m for greenhouses, N1.09bn road compensation, others

The Jigawa State Government has approved N273.29 million for the construction of 20 greenhouses across 10 local government areas to boost youth livelihoods, the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa, has said

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday at the Government House in Dutse, Musa disclosed that the decision was reached at the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday, June 22, 2026, and chaired by Governor Umar Namadi.

“Mr. Governor and council members approved the award of contract for the construction of 20 Greenhouses, Type II, in 10 LGAs at a total cost of N273,293,272.50,” Musa told reporters.

“The project leverages agrarian strength of state to create jobs, food security,” the commissioner said.

He highlighted that the project aligns with Jigawa’s agrarian nature and the administration’s drive for modern farming.

“This is part of sustained efforts to promote youth empowerment, modern agricultural practices, and sustainable livelihood opportunities
