Iran have been granted permission to enter the United States two days before their final FIFA World Cup 2026 group-stage match against Egypt, easing previous travel restrictions imposed on the team.
The move comes after Iranian officials raised concerns with FIFA over regulations that required the squad to arrive at match venues in the United States less than 24 hours before kick-off and depart almost immediately after games.
US Eases Travel Restrictions
Under the revised arrangement, Iran will be allowed to travel to Seattle on Wednesday ahead of Friday’s Group G encounter with Egypt. The US Department of Homeland Security confirmed the decision on Tuesday.
“For the Iranian team’s third match in Seattle on June 26, the team has been permitted to come into the US two days before the match,” a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said.
