‘We’ll continue to support police efforts to sustain peace in Kebbi’ — Gov Idris

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to sustain peace and security across the state.
Idris gave the assurance while receiving the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Administration and Finance and supervising the North-West geopolitical zone, Suleiman Mohammed Abdul, during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

“We’ll continue to support the police to sustain peace in Kebbi,” the governor said, adding that his administration would maintain close collaboration with security agencies to safeguard lives and property.

He commended the Inspector-General of Police for deploying a high-level delegation to assess the security situation in the state and identify areas requiring further intervention.

Idris noted that Kebbi shares international borders with the Republic of Niger and the Republic of Benin, a factor he said had contributed to the infiltration of bandits and Lakurawa elements into some border communities.

According to him, criminal elements often cross into the state from neighbouring territories to launch attacks before retreating to their bases.

He expressed confidence that recommendations from the DIG’s assessment visit would further strengthen security measures and enhance the safety of residents.

Earlier, Abdul said he was in Kebbi on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police to convey the appreciation of the force to the governor for his support to the police.
