Parties Slam Accord, APC Over Absence at Osun Election Peace Dialogue

Concerns were raised on Wednesday in Osogbo after the ruling Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress (APC) failed to attend a stakeholders’ peace meeting convened by the Osun State Police Command ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The dialogue, which brought together political parties, electoral officials, and security agencies, was aimed at promoting peaceful conduct before, during, and after the polls. 

However, representatives of smaller parties criticized the absence of Accord and APC, warning it could undermine efforts to ensure a violence-free election.

Adewale Adebayo, governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), described the boycott as troubling:“It is scary that the two political parties that have been fingered at one point or another for killing, maiming, and harassing each other’s supporters are not here. They need to be here to agree to the terms of peace.”
