JUST IN: Rivers Assembly Postpones Debate on Fubara’s 2026–2028 Budget Plan


The Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday stepped down the consideration of the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) sent to it by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Politics Nigeria reports that the request was presented to the lawmakers during an emergency plenary session in Port Harcourt, where they met to read the official communication from the executive arm. 

The emergency sitting marked a major turn of events as the lawmakers reconvened for the very first time in more than three months. Legislative activities had been frozen since March when the House sharply rejected four commissioner nominees forwarded by the Governor. 

During the session, the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, confirmed that the assembly received the document containing the strategic economic projections.
