
The Transmission Company of Nigeria says it has restored bulk power supply to the Lagos complex through the Benin-Egbin 330kV transmission line following a national grid disturbance that caused a widespread power outage on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by TCN, the incident occurred at approximately 8:19 a.m. when voltage instability spread across the Lagos corridor, leading to the loss of some generating stations and subsequent transmission line outages.
The statement, signed by TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, read in part, “At approximately 8:19 am this morning, the national grid experienced voltage instability which rapidly spread across the Lagos corridor, leading to the loss of some generating stations, causing transmission line outages, and the subsequent interruption of electricity supply to Lagos and its environs.”
