Anti-migrant attacks: Nigeria needs a to-do list

What principles guide Nigeria’s foreign relations when it comes to the manner in which other nations maltreat Nigerians? What principle guides the nation’s official response to such a phenomenon? Do we have any? Do we follow it strictly? Two recent events spur the questions. One was an interview the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, gave on TV. The second one was a speech South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, gave following the latest round of destructive anti-migrant protests in his nation. Interrogating how Nigeria officially responds to bad behaviour is something I’ve been doing on this page for as long as I can remember. An observation of how some issues in foreign relations had been handled made me have regular questions.
