Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has inaugurated an administrative investigation committee to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death of a 14-year-old student of St. Louis College, Kano.
The announcement was made in a statement issued Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The committee is chaired by the Commissioner for Education, Gwani Alhaji Ali Haruna Makoda, and includes senior government officials, legal advisers, education stakeholders, and representatives of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association.
According to the statement, the panel has been tasked with conducting a thorough and independent inquiry into the incident.
Its mandate covers reviewing medical records, examining the school’s social environment, investigating possible lapses in supervision or welfare management, and probing allegations of bullying or unauthorized disciplinary practices.
The committee will also assess staff compliance with supervision guidelines, evaluate emergency medical response procedures, and recommend reforms to strengthen student safety and boarding school management across Kano State.
