Justice Binta Fatima Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja will on Monday, June 29, deliver judgement in a suit instituted by the founder of PRNigeria, Malam Yushau Shuaib, against the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), challenging his withdrawal from the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 47.
Justice Nyako fixed the date in a new hearing notification just served on the parties involved in the legal battle over the propriety or otherwise of NIPSS’s action against the plaintiff.
The judgment was initially slated for June 19 but was shifted due to the judge’s involvement in the mass trial of over 600 terrorism suspects by the Federal Government.
At the adoption of the final written addresses by lawyers to the two parties, Shuaib’s lawyer, Teslim Adigun, urged the court to grant all the claims of his client by declaring his withdrawal from SEC 47 illegal and restoring him to the course.
Adigun held that Shuaib had presented his case in clear terms and urged the court to resolve the disputed issues in his favour.
However, counsel to NIPSS, Mr. Pius Akubo, SAN, argued that the plaintiff’s case should be dismissed because admission to the NIPSS course is not a fundamental right.
Justice Nyako, after taking the arguments, announced that she would deliver judgment.
