Gombe gov unveils anti-terror campaign, says insecurity biggest threat to North

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Monday called on residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies, declaring that defeating terrorism and other forms of criminality requires collective action.

The governor made the appeal in a statewide broadcast to mark the launch of the “Unite Against Terror” campaign, stressing that security is the responsibility of every citizen and not the government alone.

“Security is everyone’s responsibility. The government and security agencies cannot do it alone. If you see something, say something. If you notice any suspicious movement, unusual gathering or activities that threaten the peace and security of your community, report them promptly to the appropriate security agencies,” Yahaya said.

He described insecurity as the greatest threat confronting Northern Nigeria, warning that sustainable development would remain impossible without peace and stability.
