Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has approved scholarships for more than 760 beneficiaries under the state’s 2025/2026 Local Scholarship Scheme, in a major push to broaden access to quality education and build human capital.

The Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board, Chukwuemeka Mbah, announced the approval in a statement on Tuesday.

The beneficiaries, selected from all 17 local government areas and various fields of study, include over 500 undergraduate students, 100 postgraduate students, and 160 public sector teachers.

Successful applicants who passed the Computer-Based Test have started receiving text messages and emails for verification and documentation, to be conducted on a local government-by-local government basis. Officials urged them to respond promptly.

The scholarship programme is a flagship initiative of the Mbah administration aimed at removing financial barriers to higher education.

“This is not the time to say you’re unable to get quality education because of funding,” the Executive Secretary said.
